Currently, The Street Classroom has conducted YDS in three national secondary schools in Marinduque, benefiting more than 1,100 students.
BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

The Street Classroom believes that youth development is crucial to poverty alleviation. Hence, the Youth Development Session aims to equip learners with necessary life skills to realize their full potentials, reduce risky behavior and decrease deterrents to their development with the end goal of enabling them to contribute meaningfully to improving the condition of their families.

The project is intended to augment with the Family Development Session conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The project follows a youth-centered module designed to keep learners in school. The module is designed to develop a positive mindset among the youth participants. Included in the YDS module are activities which will allow the youth beneficiaries to understand their changing bodies, minds, emotions, and roles in the society. Topics like teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, and child pornography are also included in the YDS.
